Good Samaritan Literally Gives Homeless Man the Shirt Off His Back
23-year-old Joey Resto was taking the “A” train home to Brooklyn New York on Friday. It was a chilly evening with temperatures around 45 degrees. He looked around on the train and saw people looking toward a man without a shirt, shivering in his seat. The man was obviously homeless, cold, and he looked hungry.
What he did next is going viral and for good reason, it’s a prime example of being a better human. Joey took the shirt off his own back, and offered it to the shivering man. He had to help him put it on, raising the man’s arms as you do when helping someone get dressed. He said, “He looked so weak and frail, I had to help him or he would’t put it on.” Resto goes on to say he did it just because he thought it was right. Plain and simple. “It just came from the heart,” Resto said. “I don’t know how anyone could have walked past him and had extra clothing and not given it to him.”
Resto also invited the man home for a good meal and some warmer clothes, and although the man accepted, he had fallen asleep before the train reached their stop and he didn’t want to wake him.
Resto had no idea he was being filmed, and his random act of kindness has gone viral, the video has been viewed over 13 million times.
